THE EASY ANSWER: IT WAS NOT FOR U.S.

This post is a short note on yet another lie told by Donald Trump to try and justify, after the fact, his attempt to extort something from the Ukrainian government.

Referring to the infamous phone call to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, the one in which he asked Mr. Zolinsky to, “Do us a favor”, Trump today publicly announced that he was requesting the favor for the U.S. (as in the entire American country). He claims he didn’t mean us (me and my administration), but the U.S.

The first charge against Trump in the impeachment indictment is abuse of power. One of the strongest, and most obvious pieces of evidence came from his own mouth (the source of most of his troubles) when he said, very simply, “I want you to do us a favor.” He then went on to obliquely (because he can’t think or speak clearly) demand something be done about corruption. He mumbles on to mention crowdstrike …l guess you have one of your wealthy people … the server, they say Ukraine has it.”

Trump believes that the rest of America can not understand the simple meaning of ordinary American words as they are used in ordinary conversation.

No, when Trump asked Zolinsky to, “do us a favor” he meant, do a favor for me, Donald Trump.

Remember, honest acts and requests to a foreign government are done publicly, for the country and the rest of the world to hear and understand. They are done in the name of the United States and its people and for our benefit, and the request, or demand, is not a “favor.” The president of the United States does not ask for favors. The president may request, even humbly, that a government do something for us, but he does not stoop to asking for favors.

But if your ractionary Uncle, who watches too much Fox Fake and Phony News, still wants to believe that Trump was requesting a favor on behalf of the United States, instead of “us”, just ask him: “who would benefit the most from that favor?”

And that is the easy answer to Trump’s claim that he asked for the U.S., instead of us.
